Dewatsuru Sakura Emaki

Dewatsuru Sakura EmakiFrom Akita Prefecture's Akita Seishu, this special brew is made from a rice varietal that is purple in colour, giving this sake a reddish hue, and thus the name of "cherry scrolls." Not much information at all about this, not listed on the brewer's website either. Forward nose, both of steamed rice and sweet cherries and strawberries. Carrying over, upfront and short, relatively sweet, pronounced rice flavour, almost jammy, over-ripe cherries and strawberries, with a pleasant sour acidity. An interesting take on a dessert-style sake, something different.
