Mukune Internship - Team Outing to Fushimi

“
A tremendous day out in Fushimi for Team Mukune! No sooner had we got off the train did we turn into the first sake shop we spied, and picked up some walking libations, a Tama no Hikari junmai ginjo and a Tsuki no Hikari shiboritate nama genshu. Yes, we sake geeks roll hard.

“
Sake-mai.

“
A quick stop at Kizakura for a tasting of their namazake and their taru-zake, which was surprisingly good.

“
A brief tour of the insides of the Gekkeikan museum. This display shows rice milled to different degrees. And then of course, to the tasting room, where the sakes were really not bad. I bought a bottle of "retro" sake.

“
Team Mukune cannot go more than 10 minutes without being in the presence of sake, so a quick flight. Gekkeikan shiboritate, Tama no hikari shiboritate nama genshu, and a Tomio namazake.

“
Sake shoppes everywhere.

“
A very special namazake at Shinsei.

“
...and chicken knuckles.

“
The Shinsei store, where I had an incredible sake-lees soft serve ice cream.

“
Kizakura one-cup sake from the vending machine.

“
Walking down the street, we ran into three very lively "old boys", who invited us to follow them to their neighboorhood oden shop.

“
...and then the karaoke started... it was only 6PM...

“
Stand-up sake and shochu bar.

“
We drank all of these, I don't recall what these were.

“
Which is probably due to my trying this shochu.

“
We then headed into Kyoto to meet Daimon-san at an izakaya. This is one of his junmai ginjo.

“
And the proprietor kept bringing out rare and extremist sakes.

“
And snacks.

“
And sake.

“
And snacks.

“
And sake.

It was ridiculous. And I lost my hat. Literally, and figuratively... and now for the morning walkaround.
